Press Release
J. Walter Thompson Successfully Integrates Legacy Functionality into Business Processing System with Jacada
Atlanta, Feb 19, 2003 – Jacada Ltd. (NASDAQ: JCDA) today announced that J. Walter Thompson, the world's first advertising agency, has successfully utilized Jacada Integrator to incorporate mainframe application functionality into its newly developed Intranet, called infusion, which handles the majority of JWT's daily business processing. The Intranet system consolidates a variety of computing systems, including homegrown legacy applications and third-party software packages into one consolidated Intranet application, making work flow easier and more efficient for its employees and customers.
"Jacada Integrator allowed us to unlock the data in our legacy systems and bridge the gap between old and new," states Jordan Tenjeras, project manager at JWT. "The Jacada solution provided a full-featured, rapid deployment environment that helped make our infusion desktop application a reality."
"We wanted to create a system that supported a standardization of office procedures," states Tenjeras. "We were determined to provide our users with a comprehensive solution for daily business processing, but at the same time we knew there would be obstacles."
JWT's core customer data and business processes are housed within multiple mainframe applications provided by a third-party software solutions provider. For years, these legacy applications have been a key component in the daily responsibilities of JWT employees, so the agency required that these mainframe applications be an essential ingredient of the new infusion system. JWT also utilizes a Lotus Domino infrastructure, so it was important to leverage solutions that supported this framework.
JWT developed a plan to create infusion, a one-stop-shop system consisting of new applications developed within IBM Lotus Notes, the mainframe applications, and other third-party applications. In order to bridge the two worlds between mainframe application functionality and the modern infusion Intranet, JWT utilized Jacada Integrator to gain non-intrusive access to the mainframe application's data streams and integrate the data into infusion.
The consolidated Intranet system has proven to be a tremendous success providing functionality such as job estimation, production, media buying and planning, invoicing, and accounts payable. JWT has seen a 33% return on investment associated mainly with time efficiencies and the ability of users to access information directly.
"After introducing mainframe functionality into the infusion environment, we saw improvement in many other areas as well," adds Tenjeras. "By consolidating applications, we eliminated a significant amount of data entry and as a result, the errors associated with this redundancy. This immediately made our operations more efficient and cost-effective."
infusion has also enhanced employee satisfaction, reduced training times and costs, and extended more functionality out to JWT's client base to allow for greater self-service sufficiency. By extending mainframe logic to customers, the agency is not only shortening project cycle times, but also enhancing the customer experience and building stronger client relationships.
