Saab Cars USA deploys Host-to-Web dealer solution
Saab Cars USA deployed Jacada host-to-Web technology to create an e-business communications infrastructure that increases productivity, reduces costs, and, most importantly, improves customer satisfaction.
The choice was a host-to-Web software solution that enabled access to legacy applications via a web browser. Saab chose Jacada for Java for its ability to seamlessly and transparently navigate through three systems. Jacada enabled rapid development of the user interfaces, which was a critical issue due to the project’s tight development and deployment schedule.
With Jacada and its Java-based interface, Saab enabled its dealers to access -- through a web browser -- the Saab applications that reside on an AS/400 at headquarters in Norcross, Georgia. Access is also provided to the Caterpillar Logistics System, a mainframe-based service bureau that manages the distribution of Saab parts. In addition, dealers had integrated access to a Dealer Management System used for day-to-day business needs such as accounting and repair orders. Dealers were shielded from any differences among the three systems. Deploying these applications with Jacada allows a single sign-on and seamless system navigation of all systems through a browser interface.
